PrEP & PEP

Our mission is to combat HIV transmission through free testing and comprehensive access to vital PREP and PEP treatments.

PREP and PEP are effective HIV prophylaxis treatments, with PREP taken by individuals at high risk and PEP used after potential exposure to prevent infection.

PREP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) and PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) are two important strategies in HIV prevention.

PREP is a daily medication regimen taken by individuals at high risk of contracting HIV. It involves taking a single pill containing a combination of antiretroviral drugs, which help prevent the virus from establishing a permanent infection in the body. PREP is highly effective when taken consistently and has been shown to reduce the risk of HIV transmission by up to 99% in various populations.

PEP, on the other hand, is a short-term treatment initiated after a potential exposure to HIV. It involves taking a combination of antiretroviral medications for a period of 28 days. PEP works by preventing the virus from replicating and establishing an infection in the body. It is crucial to start PEP as soon as possible, preferably within 72 hours after exposure, for maximum effectiveness.

Both PREP and PEP are essential tools in HIV prevention, helping to reduce the risk of transmission and providing individuals with a sense of control over their own sexual health. It is important to consult with healthcare professionals to determine whether PREP or PEP is suitable for an individual’s specific circumstances and to ensure proper usage and monitoring.
